Veejay (ver. veejay+1.4.3)

1 December, 2008 - 00:29
A 'visual' instrument and realtime video sampler for live video performances. Trigger samples, apply realtime fx (120+), scratch, mix, record.

About this version
Veejay is a 'visual' instrument and realtime video sampler

It allows you to "play" the video like you would play a piano.
While playing, you can record the resulting video directly to disk (video sampling).

Veejay can be used to manipulate video in a realtime environment i.e. 'VeeJay'
for visual performances or for (automated) interactive video installations.
Veejay 1.4 supports now the perspective transformation on a per-sample basis, You can use this feature to calibrate your camera in such way that the video projected corresponds with the object's position in physical space - at least,
approximately depending on pixel to millimeter ratio's. This is great for setups like wall projections such as interactive mirrors or like floor projections with interactive water (rippleTV) You can also use this feature to project the video onto an object on stage. This feature is in beta.

Also, reloaded was redesigned to fit better on larger screens and the old skin is still available
for smaller screens. The new UI is cleaned up and
some features have been improved.

Zero Install (ver. 0.37)

30 November, 2008 - 18:22
User-oriented decentralised software distribution.

About this version
CHANGES

- Include all attributes in selections. XML Meta-data such as the
license and compile command weren't previously included.

- Increase delay before checking for updates If NetworkManager says
we're not connected yet, wait 2 minutes before trying anyway (not 20
seconds).

- zeroinstall.injector.gpg.load_keys(): Use the primary UID for the name
of a key (Frank Richter).

BUGS

- App list box: Get rid of horizontal scrollbar (Frank Richter). Actions are
right aligned, and the app description fills all the width between icon and
actions columns.

- Ensure over_overrides file is flushed before renaming. Reported on ROX
web-site.

- Allow changing the stability rating of implementations in feeds
Before, it tried to save the settings for the interface, not the feed.

- Don't filter out feeds with no machine type when looking for source
code. We treated a missing machine type in a as "any", but that
doesn't match if we're looking for source code.

- Don't treat "src" as an architecture group. After selecting a "src"
package, it assumed this was a 32-bit architecture and tried to find
dependencies to match.

- "Manage feeds" dialog: limit size of icons displayed in list (Frank Richter).

- Fixed last-check-attempt time-stamp code. When checking for updates we
store a time-stamp so that we don't keep re-checking the same feed in
a short period. If the time-stamp file already existed, this code
failed to update it.

UNIT TESTS

- Rename duplicate-named test (Mark Seaborn)

- Tidy: remove some dead test code (Mark Seaborn)

- Tidy: remove unused imports (Mark Seaborn)

- If http_proxy is set it can cause the download tests to fail (Mark
Seaborn)

gWaei (ver. 0.9.1)

29 November, 2008 - 23:47
A Japanese-English dictionary program for the GNOME desktop.

About this version

- Fixed the program to use a Japanese locale in the background. It makes the program run smoother. Also, it makes the fonts appear in sans serif likey they are supposed.
- Building rpms and debs has been made internal to the makefile instead of being separate scripts.
./configure
make deb
make rpm
- Slightly nicer icons for boundary, not boundary, and unknown
- Added the "And" and "Or" buttons to the Insert menu
- Made the Japanese translation more complete

[New] GSQL (ver. 0.2.0)

29 November, 2008 - 23:02
Integrated database development tool for GNOME

About this version
This release introduces:

* SQL editor

* PL /SQL editor (in triggers, functions, procedures and packages) accessible in Oracle engine.

* tree-like database object navigation

* using standard notification service for pop up messages. E. g. in case of inactivity user will be notified on query completion

* create and connect to a duplicate session with parameters copied from the active session, all in one click

* configuration improved. It is now possible to tune GSQL look, customize editor and set up the settings of DBMS engine, e.g. set custom environment variables to access Oracle

* new plugins:

Terminal - opens a terminal session with parameters (such as login, password etc) taken from the active session

Exporter - exports query results to a CVS file. So far only fetched records could be exported

Runner - periodically executes SQL queries.

Release remarks:

* MySQL engine:

- MySQL server version 5 and higher is required. GSQL relies on information_schema, which was introduced in version 5.0

- you can not cancel a running query as easy as in Oracle due to API limitations. You can always open a terminal session and cancel the query with “KILL QUERY”

* Oracle:

- this version was tested with Oracle version 10.1.0.2.0. Should you experience any troubles with different Oracle versions please report to GSLQ authors

- it is not recommended to use oracle-xe-client from http://oss.oracle.com/debian repository, there are known issues with NLS with this client.

GSQL API is now stable enough, and you are highly encouraged to contribute your own plugins or support additional database engines.

We wish GSQL could become the main database development tool in GNOME one day.

Gnome Chemistry Utils (ver. 0.10.2)

29 November, 2008 - 10:29
GChemPaint, a 2D chemical editor and some other programs related to chemistry suitable for the GNOME desktop.

About this version
This is a major bugs fix release. Main news are:

GChemPaint:
* Fixed an issue with double bond drawing.
* Fixed a crash when adding a bond between two molecules. [#24853]
* Fixed crash or end in an infinite loop when adding a fourth bond to phophorus. [#24863]
* Fixed various issues related to group symbols.
* Do not end with an infinite canvas. [#24869]

Other:
* Unescape URIs before display in all applications.

The group symbols issues were really serious (several crashers and unreliable rendering), so, at least, GChemPaint users should upgrade.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
